Community Transport mini-bus services can be split into three main
types
A minibus service run by the community for the community that
operates set routes to a timetable like a normal public bus
services.
These services always use volunteer drivers and are most often
found in rural areas where no public bus services exist.
- A service provided in a minibus
for a specific group of people on a specific journey e.g. people
with mobility difficulties, people with a disability, young people,
the local W.I group, a Scout group etc. The driver may be a volunteer
or an employee of the organisation running the service.
- Minibuses or accesible cars operated
for individuals with mobility difficulties or disabilities that
mean they are unable to use conventional forms of transport. This
service can be used to make a wide variety of journey's catering
to individuals everyday needs. The vehicles may be driven by a
volunteer or an employee.
All the types of services listed above will make a charge or request
a donation to use them.
