WHEELS
TO WORK
What
is Wiltshire Wheels to Work?
We are a scooter loan
scheme for people aged 16 plus, living in rural communities in Wiltshire
and Swindon who have been offered employment or paid training but
can’t take it up due to transport difficulties.
It works by loaning
a fully subsidised 50cc scooter for up to 6 months along with all
the required training and safety equipment.
Do I need to
pay for servicing or insurance?
No, everything is included.
Your insurance, maintenance, servicing, tax and MOT are all covered
by the scheme.
How
much does it cost?
We ask for a contribution
of £10 per week towards the running of the scooter and riders
are expected to pay their own fuels costs.
Riders are also expected
to open a savings account and save at least £10 a week so
that they may purchase their own transport at the end of the scheme.
Will
I be eligible?
We have certain criteria
that you must meet. You will be asked the following questions to
judge your suitability for the scheme.
• Do you live in
a rural community?
• Do you have any other transport available?
• Do you have a job or a job offer?
• Do you have a criminal record?
• Do you have a provisional or full driving licence?
Each candidate is assessed
on their individual need and scooters will be allocated on a priority
of need basis.
What
happens when I join the scheme?
The co-ordinator will
arrange your compulsory basic training session and once you have
completed it your scooter will be issued. The co-ordinator will
then visit you once every six weeks to complete basic safety checks
on your scooter and check your progress on the scheme.

can I apply?
